CHI è LAURENT?
Laurent nasce nel 1979 a Neuilly sur Seine (Parigi). Torna in Italia all'età di 11 anni e fino a 39 non ha mai dipinto.
Un giorno ha deciso di comprare una tela e dipingere. Ha deciso di esprimersi con la pittura.
Perché per esprimersi ormai, là fuori, c'è così tanto che le parole non avevano più la stessa forza.
Ha iniziato per gioco. Ha continuato per passione.
Passione che ti fa stare sveglio di notte senza accorgertene, ti fa stare seduto con lo sguardo fisso contro un muro per un tempo indefinito mentre nella testa i colori e le emozioni prendono forma.
Il processo creativo nasce in mente con un'idea per poi cambiarla completamente mentre il colore inizia a tingere la tela bianca.
Il suo tema è l'INCONSCIO, in tutte le sue sfaccettature.
L'inconscio riguarda tutti noi. E' la parte della nostra psiche che conosciamo meno.
Freud lo paragonava a un iceberg. La parte visibile, la più contenuta, è la parte conscia. La parte invece sommersa è quella più imponente che sorregge ciò che l'iceberg mostra di sè. Rappresentando l'inconscio.
L'inconscio è un paradosso. Non potendo entrare in contatto diretto dobbiamo scoprire la sua essenza e il suo funzionamento tramite i suoi derivati: i sogni, i sintomi, i lapsus.
Da qui nascono le opere di Laurent.
Fotogrammi immaginari del nostro inconscio, delle nostre emozioni, stati d'animo prendono forma come in una rete impalpabile che raccoglie piccoli pensieri che si espandono nel vuoto.
Sogni e ambientazioni immaginarie ma allo stesso tempo profondamente realistiche che lasciano la libertà interpretativa allo spettatore di spaziare negli angoli più reconditi del proprio inconscio inesplorato.
Il tutto per scoprire qualcosa di sè, raccontare un desiderio inespresso al proprio io e viaggiare su sentieri inesplorati che senza la luce giusta fanno a volte anche paura.

One day he decided to buy a canvas and paint. He decided to express himself with painting.
Because there is so much out there to express yourself now that words no longer had the same strength.
He started for fun. He continued for passion.
Passion that makes you stay awake at night without realizing it, makes you sit with your gaze fixed on a wall for an indefinite time while in your head the colors and emotions take shape.
The creative process starts with an idea and then completely changes it as the color begins to dye the blank canvas.
Its theme is the UNCONSCIOUS, in all its facets.
The unconscious affects us all. It is the part of our psyche that we know least.
Freud compared it to an iceberg. The visible part, the more contained, is the conscious part. The submerged part, on the other hand, is the most impressive one that supports what the iceberg shows of itself. Representing the unconscious.
The unconscious is a paradox. Not being able to come into direct contact we have to discover its essence and its functioning through its derivatives: dreams, symptoms, slips.
This is where Laurent's works are born.
Imaginary frames of our unconscious, of our emotions, states of mind take shape as in an impalpable network that collects small thoughts that expand into the void.
Dreams and imaginary settings but at the same time deeply realistic that leave the viewer the freedom of interpretation to wander into the most hidden corners of their unexplored unconscious.
All to discover something about oneself, tell a hidden desire to one's self and travel on unexplored paths that without the right light are sometimes even scary.
